After the recent Terrorist attacks in Paris I saw a lot of commentators angry that the people “jumped to the conclusion” that these attacks were perpetrated by Islamic extremists. Even once the Identities of the terrorists were released and they were in fact Islamic Terrorists, people still said it was racist for assuming that they were. Even after the Islamic State took credit for the attacks, people still said people were racist for assuming the attacks were perpetrated by Islamic extremists.
I am guessing these are the same people who call a police officer racist for shooting a black man, even if the black man is attacking the police officer, and trying to take the officers gun. Common sense will never override these peoples gut feelings and that is what they make their opinions based on.
But just in case, lets add some common sense to the discussion. Below is a list of every major armed conflict in the world today.
- Afghanistan War
- Iraq Civil War
- Boko Haram Insurgency
- Syrian Civil War
- Israeli Palestinian Conflict
- Turkey PKK Conflict

- RENAMO Insurgency
As you begin to go through the list, a familiar theme begins to become evident. Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Turkey, Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab (in Somalia). Pakistan, Yemen Libya, Darfur. Sinai, Sudan, Kashmir, and Balochistan… These are all Islamic conflicts.
In Myanmar, the Muslim Rohingyas are fighting the Buddist Burmese, Muslim Jihadists are also fighting the Buddists in Southern Thailand. The Moro Muslims are fighting in Malaysia, and the Philippines. Islamic extremists are waging jihad against the Ethiopian Christians in the Insurgency in Ogaden. And over in Congo, the ADF Islamic insurgency has been ongoing since 1995.
Donbass (in the Ukraine) and Chechnya are Muslims against the Russians. The Xinjiang Conflict has China fighting Turkic Islamist Militant Organizations.
We can go on, and on. But the reality is the only major conflicts in the world that have nothing to do with Islam are the Mexican drug war, and the Columbian Conflict.
It is amazing how peaceful the world would be without the “religion of peace”.
So why do we blame Islamic extremists when we see a coordinated attack across multiple locations that include mass casualties and suicide bombings? Because that is the hallmark of Islamic extremism. To blame anyone else would be ignoring the evidence.
I’m impressed, I must say. Truly rarely do I experience a blog that’s equally educative
and interesting, and let me let you know, you have hit the nail
on the head.
Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different websites daily.
It’ll always be stimulating to learn content from other authors and training something at
their store.
